How to get rid of Acne (part 2)

get rid of acne naturally

Happy Sunday guys i hope you are enjoying your day. I decided to post the other part of my article about getting an acne free skin today because Sunday is the day to relax, unwind and pamper yourself so sit back relax and enjoy. (if you want to see the other article click here)

In the first article i talked about attacking your acne internally, this post is all about tropical products you could use to fight acne on the surface. Simplicity is honestly the key, you do not need a million products, if anything too much products could be doing more harm than good. The first thing i did was clear out my collection,
i reduced everything to a cleanser, toner, treatment and moisturizer. Every now and then (once to twice a week depending on how clear my face is) i add a mask and exfoliate.

1
Cleanser
Having an acne prone and really oily skin made me  once think that the more times i clean my face in a day the better for my skin. I would constantly buy products that were "oil free" or for "acne prone skin". These types of products causes more harm than good because they strip your face of it's natural oil, which will leave it thinking your face is really dry and in other to compensate it produces MORE oil which leads to clogged pores and more acne.

What to do
* Get a gentle or natural cleanser such as Cetaphil or African Black Soap (it can be a bit drying).
* Only cleanse your face twice a day (Morning and night)
* Avoid products targeted towards "acne prone" or "oily" skin.

2
Toner
For a while i stopped using a toner because i thought it was a waste of my money and i wasnt really sure if it was working or not. Then i came across a post about benefits of an apple cider vinegar toner and i can honestly swear by it. The reason why it works is because apple cider vinegar balances the pH level of your skin. After cleanser the pH level of your skin could get disrupted so an ACV toner brings it back to normal (slightly acidic 5.5)

What to do
* Get a small spray bottle or just any empty container
*Pour equal parts of ACV and Water
* Mix by shaking it and simply apply on your face after cleansing
* Allow to dry

3
Treatment
If you follow me on Instagram (@beutfull_ ) you would have heard of this product because i swear by it. Benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide is the best acne treatment ever invented because it kills the acne causing bacterial. I get mine from acne.org but you could get it from basically anywhere. The main reason why i liked the one from acne.org is because it is a gel and not cream and drys clear, but keep in mind that it will dry out your face especially when you are just starting (first 2-3 months is the worst after that your skin adjusts and stops peeling).

What to do
* Apply a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide on your acne (anything more is not necessary)
*Peppermint oil and tea tree oil are also great natural treatments (i like to mix mine with a little BP).

4
Moisturizer
The part of my regimen i completely changed was my moisturizers. Like i said earlier, i was once into the whole "oil free" moisturizers but they were expensive and did a horrible job at controlling my oil. I switched to using natural oils as moisturizer and i see a huge different. Firstly my face is no longer oily, this is because applying natural oils not only moisturize and make your face softer they also trick your skin into thinking it already produced oil thereby it produces little to no oil.

What to do
* Get a natural oil such as
*Shea butter (natural spf as well)
*Jojoba oil (Very similar to sebum the skin produces)
*Sweet Almond oil (Lots of Vit E)
*Coconut oil (i dont use but people swear by it, Great moisturizer)
*Rosehip oil (Improves skin tone)

Masks and Exfoliate
I threw away so much masks and exfoliates because i wanted to try a more natural approach. I currently only do diy masks and scrubs. The one masks i find myself doing most is the Apple Cider Vinegar and Bentonite clay mask. It is great for oily skin because it helps get rid of the oil and unclog your pores, i wouldn't recommend for dry skin though because it can be really drying. As for scrubs i did a simply mixture which is Brown Sugar, my facial oils, apple cider vinegar
and lemon juice. It has been working for me and i try to do them at least 2 times a week, be very careful when you exfoliate though, scrubbing really hard will only irritate your skin which can cause more acne. So be gentle.

These are the simply things i have been doing that has been working great for me, simplicity is really the key and patience, it took a lot for your skin to get to this point so it will equally take a lot for it to revert back to normal.
